MKD Electric is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Associated Builders and Contractors- Illinois Chapter 2017 Excellence in Construction: Award of Excellence for the Alt Fuels project. MKD Electric was selected as the electrical contractor to perform the electrical and instrumentation scope of work that would result in a clean technology-alternative fuel facility for heating limestone in kilns, in order to bake lime for steelmakers. The engineered fuel is recognized by the EPA as a non-hazardous fuel that will partially replace the use of coal as fuel for the plant and significantly reduce emissions.

It is significant that MKD Electric, an ABC-affiliated merit shop electrical and instrumentation contractor, was awarded and successfully completed this project in a predominately union controlled limestone plant. Due to the success of this project, MKD has been named the preferred electrical contractor for this company, serving multiple plants in the area.
