MKD Electric is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Three Rivers Manufacturers’ Association (TRMA) Award for Meritorious Performance for High Risk Work and Gold Awards based on our safety performance while working at TRMA facilities during 2015. The awards were presented at TRMA’s Annual Dinner Meeting at the Clarion Hotel in Joliet on April 7, 2016.

Amber Russell, Vice Chair of TRMA, and Refinery Manager, ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery, hosted the event. She had this to say about contractor’s safety performance at TRMA sites during 2015:

“As contractors and employees, we don’t need reminders about the potential for incidents. Our business changes rapidly and brings some degree of complexity and uncertainty. Our contractors have demonstrated a high level of commitment dealing with hazardous situations and ensuring everyone returns home safety every day… We simply can’t run our businesses without you.”

Contractors worked over 6 million man-hours at TRMA sites, resulting in a 0.36 OSHA incident rate in 2015.

49 companies received the Award for Meritorious Performance for High Risk Work in recognition of working at a TRMA plant without an OSHA recordable injury in 2015. Only contractor companies performing work judged as high risk (fabrication, installation, construction, etc.) are eligible for this award. 20 companies were presented with Gold Awards for decreasing their OSHA recordable incident rate by 25% compared to the previous three years. MKD Electric received both the Meritorious and Gold Awards. This is the 22nd year that TRMA has recognized companies that achieve excellence in safety performance.
